Adopt-A-Stream

We tried to adopt a stream before Covid, but after one clean up, the town suspended to program due to Covid. So now we have passed the Covid restrictions and a new person is in control of the program. She posted a notice that she was looking for groups to help clean our streams. We stepped up and we have a brand new stream to clean that is much easier for us to access.

We headed out this weekend with lots of trash bags and some trash grabbers to help us. The fallen leaves made our task a bit difficult as there may be some trash under the leaves that we just can't get to right now. And with the rain, the leaves were quite slippery.

Even with all of that, the scouts did a great job. We all agreed that this felt more satisfying than Beach Sweep. With all the trash we collected, we really felt like we made a difference. Some of the surprising finds were: a bathroom exhaust fan, 7 basketballs and 3 footballs, several bike tires and one car tire. At the end of the day, we filled 14 bags of trash, and it weighed about 320 pounds.
