We went to Reed's Gold Mine in North Carolina for a camp out. Reed's Goldmine is a historic site. It is the first place they found gold in North Carolina. Now you can go there to learn more about it.

Once a month they teach the Mining in Society Merit Badge. We camped at the site on Friday and went to the merit badge class on Saturday. We got to tour the mine. Ms. Laura even saw a bat.

After that we got to learn how to pan for gold. Five people found gold!
