After having our last scheduled 10-mile hike rained out, we hit the trail on April 3 to get caught up. This time we went to the Blue Star trail in our hometown.

This is a beautiful trail that wanders through the Anne Springs Greenway. We didn't take the entire hike, we just chose to go 5 miles out and then returned on the same route.

There are many great things to see on this trail. We stopped to have a snack break at the old Grist Mill. Then we hiked across a couple of swinging bridges. We traveled under a train trestle that spanned a large creek or small river. For lunch we decided to sit along one side of a bridge and let our tired feet dangle off the edge. Some of the scouts saw a crawfish crawling along the shallow water bottom.

If you are looking for a scenic hike, this is a great local choice.
