Some members of Troop 130 got to experience an amazing week in New Mexico at the Boy Scout's Philmont Ranch. We flew out of Charlotte and landed in Colorado for this fabulous hiking adventure. During our time in New Mexico, we got to see some incredible views, encounter scary wildlife (mini bears anyone?) and develop a deeper connection with each other.

Mr. Tevis, Mr. Mercer, and Benjamin Cripe went along as the leaders for our group. They taught us a lot and encouraged us to lead ourselves. I don't think we thanked them enough for taking time from their work to help us out.

It was really challenging. The adjustment to the altitude made things harder. Hiking so much every day and then sleeping on the ground was sometimes uncomfortable. But overall it was so worth it. You really can't imagine what this experience is like unless you go. So I encourage everyone, when you get the change, just sign up, prepare yourself by hiking a lot before hand, and go!
