Spring Camporee 2022

Spring Camporee was held in Rutherfordton, NC at Camp Bud Schiele. The theme of the week was Lord Baden Powel's Brownsea Island. Scouts from around the council came together to enter in competitions that tested their scouting skills.

Troop 130 had two patrols enter the competitions, the Fire Breathing Ducks and our combined Phoenix-GOATS. Scouts were tested in orienteering, lashing and knots, first aid, fire building and assembling a tent while all members of your team are blind folded except one. Our scouts came away from the event realizing that we still had some work to do in some of these areas.

The best competition was an optional one: the dessert competition. Both patrols made delicious entries. The Ducks made a Dutch Oven Smores Cake. The Phoenix-GOATS made a Chocolate Dump Cake. It was a tight competition, but the Phoenix-GOATS pulled out a first-place win when they wowed the judges by serving their cake with homemade ice cream.

Overall, this was a great weekend. A little cold, but a lot of fun. Next year our troop is in charge of planning and executing Spring Camporee with Troop 137. We'll be prepared to have more wins next year.
