It has been awhile since we have camped together. This was the first campout the troop has had since Covid-19 hit. Because we have a lot of new scouts, for many of them this was the first Boy Scout campout they have ever been on.
It was held at Bethelwoods in Rock Hill. Apparently Mother Nature did not get the message that we were planning to camp because it decided to rain. Friday night was windy but clear. A lot of scouts earned a merit badge. However Saturday afternoon it started to rain. Scouts had to get under shelter. By Saturday night it was awful. Rain poured down everywhere. A pop up from another site blew over and crashed into our tents.
The campfire had to be held in a firepit at the basketball courts. It was fun. Our scouts did the 60 Second skit. Most of the tents stayed dry and the scouts survived. At the end of the weekend, many scouts had earned 2-3 merit badges and the newest scouts were almost done with Scout Rank and some Tenderfoot Rank.
